Interstate 5 is open this morning in western Stanislaus County after a major big rig accident overnight. It happened outside Patterson near Sperry Road and may actually have caused some problems for phone service. The big rig rolled hundreds of yards off the freeway and slammed into a building that contains phone electronic transmission equipment.
